Defining boundaries for all types of dwellings – bungalows, houses, flats. etc.; Insulation – walls, attic,  roof.

Transparent Elements:- 
Heat Loss/Gain in windows, doors, walls etc.

Ventilation:-
Fans, Vents and Chimneys;  Natural ventilation;  Difference between a chimney and flue;  Pressure Testing.

Opaque Elements:-
U- Values;  Conductivity and Resistance;  Adjacent garage, Corridors and stairwells. Room in roof.

Water Heating :-
Boilers – Types of Gas & Oil Boilers;  The Home-Heating Appliance Register of Performance (HARP) product efficiency database for home heating appliances used in Ireland.

Space Heating:-
Energy requirements over 4 Worksheets as determined by DEAP:- Hot Water Worksheet; Solar Water Heating Worksheet; Space Heating Worksheet; Space Heating & Hot Water Worksheet.

Energy Requirements:-
Space Heating – Primary and Secondary;  Boiler efficiency;  Controls Efficiency.

Special Energy Requirements:-
Solar Energy;  Solar Water Heating;  Bio Energy and Biomass Boilers;  Heat Pumps;  Micro Generators – Wind/Water;  District / Community Heating;  Combined Heat & Power; Solar Photo–Voltaic Panels.

BER Assessor Responsibilities:-
